Programme details for Academic year 2026-2027

Commencement Date: 13th July 2026

This programme is designed for students who already possess a basic understanding of the theory and practice of Yoga and wish to pursue advanced studies in the field. Through an intensive and interdisciplinary approach, students gain the opportunity to explore the many dimensions of Yoga, including its philosophical, psychological, textual, and physiological aspects.

The programme helps students develop a deeper understanding of the evolution of Yoga as a profound system of knowledge and practice, while also examining its influence on the intellectual and spiritual traditions of ancient India. The teaching methodology encourages critical thinking, academic inquiry, and practical engagement with the subject.

To support individual interests and career goals, the programme offers a variety of elective courses, allowing students to customise their learning experience according to their academic and professional aspirations.

Key Information

1. B.A. (Yogashastra) or Graduation from any other faculty+ Diploma or equivalent course in Yoga with 500 marks or 200 hours of learning from a recognized institute.
2. Exceptional candidates without a qualifying programme may be considered, based on an interview.

Pedagogy

Teaching-learning happens in a combination of theory lectures and practical sessions. While teaching theory topics, teachers mainly adopt the constructivist approach of pedagogy by which students can participate in the process of understanding and not just passively receive the information. This approach helps to develop critical thinking amongst the students. A collaborative learning approach is adopted for teaching Yoga practicals where students can learn a particular practice by observing a teacher, a demonstrator and other classmates. Students learn the practices well when they are learnt collaboratively in a group.
