This programme introduces students to Jainism, one of India’s oldest living religious and philosophical traditions, with a focus on the textual traditions of both the Digambara and Shwetambara sects. Students gain an understanding of Jain philosophy, practices, and historical development.

A key feature of the programme is the two-year study of Prakrit, enabling students to engage with Jain texts in their original language, Ardhamagadhi. The curriculum also explores Jain contributions to language, art and architecture, logic, philosophy, and education within the wider Indian cultural context.
